Im about to cook ribs and i know i should parboil them but for how long?? They are Baby Back ribs, then were throwing them on the grill to cook the rest of the way with some hickory chips and them spreading BBQ on them! Any particular way to do this?? Anything would help, not really sure where to start?

Take a medium sized baby. Remove the back ribs. Just kidding!

Here is what I found for you:

"First, buy a rack of ribs, and cut it into about 3 chunks, so that it will fit into a pot. Fill the pot with water and bring it to a boil.

Place the ribs sections into the pot and boil it for 45 minutes.

After the ribs boil for 45 minutes, take them out and place them in a large rectangular casserole baking dish and smother them with BBQ sauce (I like "Sweet Baby Ray’s" brand, but you can use whatever kind you like best).

Cover them with tinfoil and refrigerate for several hours. Remove from refrigerator and cook them in the oven on 250°F for 3 hours, then remove the tinfoil from the top, and broil them for 5-10 minutes for a crispy top.

If you don’t want to broil them, put them on a hot grill for several minutes and grill until top is crispy.

The only thing about this recipe is that it takes planning. I usually boil them on Saturday night, put BBQ sauce on them, cover and refrigerate, then take them out on Sunday morning and put them in the oven.

I have 2.99LBS of Baby Back Ribs to cook on my BBQ gil I am using charcoal. I would like to know how to cook them and how long to cook each side.

You should Par boil them first. The meat and connective tissues will take like 20 hours to cook on a grill if you do it right. Experience BBQers can cook them low and slow at about 180 degree temps on controled grill. So Boil them first for 30 minutes. Then place on grill with seasoning. Grill on low heat 1 hour total until meat pulls away from bone. At the very last 10 minutes add your sauce and grill on the hot side of grill. Re add more sauce after taken off grill.

I fixed a rack of baby back ribs for dinner tonight and realize I prefer spare ribs. I thought baby back ribs were suppose to be less fatty? Not in my experience tonight… I paid over $4 a lb and was thoroughly disappointed in what I got. Not the bone sucking good rib experience I was looking for. I will be buying spare ribs from now on exclusively! Do you have a rib experience to share?

I agree- baby back ribs are incredibly fatty and spare ribs are the classic, delicious ones that you and I prefer! check out this site… use it to find your recipe! http://allrecipes.com//Recipes/main-dish/ribs/pork-spare-ribs/Main.aspx
